Funding Opportunities for HTMA

TO OUR RATEPAYERS

Hatfield Township Municipal Authority has applied for two (2) Grants from both State and Federal Sources in order to help finance the almost total replacement of its internal Electrical Grid that powers and runs its Wastewater Treatment Plant. This replacement is necessary due to the age of the Plant, and vital to continue effectively treating the millions of gallons of wastewater the Plant receives each day.

HTMA has also submitted one grant application from a Federal Source for the construction of a flood wall to protect its structures that are subject to more frequent flooding during heavy rain events.

The electrical grid replacement project is currently estimated to cost $15 million.  The flood protection is currently estimated to cost $1.6 million.  Without the assistance of any grants, these projects will significantly increase HTMA’s sewer rates.  These projects are not an option, as the current equipment is 35 to 50 years old and has reached its life expectancy. You can read more about these projects by clicking HERE

The three grants that HTMA is currently seeking are:

·       Statewide Local Share Account Grant – requesting $974,000 for
the Electrical Systems Upgrade Project.

·       FEMA BRIC Grant – requesting $11,748,750 for the Electrical Systems Upgrade Project.

·       FEMA Flood Mitigation Assistance Grant - requesting $1,175,250 for the Floodwall Project.

We are asking for your help by emailing the following Legislators in support of HTMA’s grant applications.  Please click HERE for sample language you can use in your email, although it is always better when the Legislators do not just receive “rubber stamped” correspondence to present to the Appropriations Committees with their personal support.

State Representative Steven Malagari to: Gretchen Berry  [email protected]

State Senator Maria Collett to: Tom Holroyd  [email protected]
To discuss the Statewide Local Share Account Grant

With Senator Collett’s and Representative Malagari’s previous support, HTMA was recently able to obtain a Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program Grant in the amount of $850,000 to help offset the cost of the expansion of its Administrative and Office Building.  The total cost of this project which is currently underway is approximately $2 million.
